I found this article today that will be of interest to any international students thinking about studying in Singapore!

Singapore has revealed plans to attract over 150,000 international students to its universities and educational institutions by 2015. Currently, there are currently 90,000 foreign students representing over 120 nationalities in Singapore. The Singapore Tourism Board is looking at increasing these numbers through an aggressive marketing campaign.

Outlining the Board’s plan, Jonathan Lim, Head Education of Economic Development Board (EDB) said “Our vision is to develop Singapore as a compelling global hub for business, investment and talent. To achieve this, our mission is to create a sustainable GDP growth for Singapore with good jobs and business opportunities for its people.”

Wow, 150,000?

In the 2006/2007 academic year, over 60,000 students went to Canada for higher ed, which I thought was a lot.

Singapore has really come up as a cosmopolitan hub. I guess, Dubai is the only city that comes close to matching Singapore. However, education wise, Singapore trumps it.

With key South Asian economies increasing in strength, I guess Singapore will soon enough be a dream destination for both studying and working!
